hot stone therapy.
Heat as a Therapeutic Tool — Not a Spa Ritual
Hot stone therapy at Remedy Bodywork is not a relaxation service. It is a purposeful, therapeutic application of heat used to warm fascia and prepare the body for the deeper stretch and release work that follows — allowing PAQO to work more effectively, and allowing your body to respond more fully.
The difference matters. Used intentionally within a fascial bodywork session, heat is one of the most effective tools for softening bound tissue and reducing nervous system guarding — the body's reflexive resistance to being worked on. When fascia is warm and the nervous system is calm, the quality of release possible in FST and myofascial release is significantly deeper and longer lasting.
how it works
Smooth, heated basalt stones are applied to the body at key points of tension and restriction — typically along the spine, the hips, the shoulders, and wherever PAQO identifies the most significant holding. The sustained warmth penetrates into the deeper fascial layers, softening the tissue and increasing local circulation before the hands-on work begins.
The effect is both deeply physical and neurological. The nervous system responds to the warmth by reducing its guarding response — which is often the first layer of resistance PAQO needs to work through before he can access the deeper fascial restriction underneath.
what it addresses
Hot stone therapy is particularly useful as a complement to FST and myofascial release for:
Clients with significant nervous system tension — where the body is resistant to hands-on work and benefits from a gentler entry point
Chronic stress and high-tension lifestyles — the sustained warmth provides a level of nervous system reset that accelerates the effectiveness of the session
Cold, poorly circulated tissue that doesn't respond as readily to direct pressure
Older injuries with significant scar tissue, where warming the area before deeper work produces significantly better outcomes
Clients returning from periods of high stress, illness, or underuse — where the body needs a more gradual re-introduction to active fascial work
What to expect
Hot stone therapy is incorporated into sessions where it can be determined that it will meaningfully enhance the effectiveness of the broader fascial work. It is seamlessly integrated into the session — not a separate service, but a tool within the toolkit PAQO applies based on what your body needs.
